- Ecology Day 2020
In its ongoing commitment to Education for Sustainable Development and SDG 4– ‘Ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all’– EEG has been organising a one-of-a-kind Students’ Workshops annually since 2001. It is an implementation platform where the young minds are given the opportunity to learn the value of a sustainable future and the methodologies they themselves can use to work towards it.
The 4-day Workshop caters each day to a different age group: Juniors (Classes 5-6), Sub-Seniors (Classes 7-9), Seniors (Classes 10-12) and Undergraduate level. The activities of the Workshops are designed to engage students and drive them to be actively involved in initiatives that are aimed at preventing environmental degradation, while promoting sustainability. It additionally fosters immense network building through active and creative collaboration among students across schools throughout the nation.
The sessions are conducted by an in-house expert team - who present the students and the teachers with key knowledge on various concepts on the national, regional and global level and encourage them to work together to find solutions for sustainable living. The Workshops include interactive brain storming sessions, creative thinking platforms and discussions on innovation – all through hands on practical exercises, on the most relevant and appropriate environmental topics.
In 2019, the Students’ Workshop was based on the theme – “Unlocking the Seasons” – and the individual sessions explored a range of SDGs including SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 14: Life below Water, SDG 15: Life of Land and finally SDG 17: partnership for the goals.
